RPMI developed the program and prepared preliminary and final design for a 480-bed addition to the County Justice Center complex.
The services consisted of Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical and Structural Engineering, Food Service, Security System and Emergency Power. The project is an urban facility in Downtown Cleveland located at the southwest corner of the county government complex.
The new facility is 13 stories containing 20 pods of 24 cells each surrounding day rooms, guard stations and outdoor recreation. Visitation is decentralized with direct visitor access to secured areas on odd number floors.
In addition to the new facility, RPMI prepared plans to enlarge the existing kitchen in Jail I by 200 percent to accommodate the increased population providing approximately 6,000 meals each day. Existing Booking Area, Release Area and Holding Areas for court were enlarged as well as female booking in Jail I.
